Is it any wonder, that having a good mattress and comfortable bedding is possibly one of the most important considerations in your life to ensure that the time you are sleeping is as restful and peaceful as can be. This is especially true when you consider that you actually spend one third of your life asleep!

Once you have a good mattress (the best being a visco elastic foam mattress)and bed (even if it's a good ol' Coleman air mattress), it is important to spend some time choosing the bedding that suits you and your decor. At a bare minimum, you should at least have a set of sheets on your bed, most commonly being a fitted bottom sheet and a flat top sheet. Then depending on your preferences, you would generally need to decide between using bedspreads and comforters for the rest of your bedding ensemble. Just remember, that the type and style of bedding you choose is likely to become the focus of your bedroom.

So...this is where the fun begins!

Giving your bedroom a new look, is an opportunity for you to express your personality in the one room of the house that is just for you. This also applies if the makeover is for your kids or another family member's bedroom as well. Irrespective of whose room it is you're decorating, or whether the bed is a twin, full, queen, king, California king, or even bunk beds or a daybed, there is an amazing range of quality bedding ensembles available, and if you shop smartly, you can get them at a discount price as well.

All in all, most people generally choose to purchase a comforter for their bed, (although bedspreads are still popular as well) as they are usually affordable for most people. Don't forget though, like anything, there are cheaper items and higher priced items. Down comforter sets are extremely popular as they provide an affordable balance between the more expensive, luxurious goose down comforters and the cheaper synthetic comforters.

Buying a bed in a bag is a popular way of buying your comforter. Basically, buying your bedding this way, will ensure you have a fully coordinated theme for your bedroom, which is especially helpful if you are a little style challenged! Most bedding ensembles come with the comforter, pillow shams, bed skirts and sometimes even coordinated curtains.

One last thing to consider when choosing your bedding is how your bedspread or comforter is going to be laundered. Check to see if it can be machine washed or it needs to be dry-cleaned. Also, depending on the size even if it can be machine washed, your washing machine may not be big enough for it. If that is the case then you will need to get it professionally cleaned.
